Topic vs. Theme
The theme of 'The Highwayman was to do what you promise. The highwayman said " Look for me by moonlight; Watch for me by moonlight; I'll come to thee by moonlight, though hell should bar the way! He promise the landlord's daughter Bess, that he would come back, but Tim told the soldier that the highwayman would come back. The soldiers got in landlord's house, kill the landlord and tie up Bess. They were ready to capture the highwayman. Then Bess shoot herself. She want to warn the highwayman, but highwayman died at the end. This is how the highwayman did what he promise to Bess.
